Lock Decode

This client’s partner had gone away for the weekend and took the only keys. Rather than destructively open the lock and charge for a replacement, we decoded it to open, and provided new keys. This ensured the partner’s keys still worked upon their return.

ABS 3 Star Picked

Like all 3 star cylinders, these are anti-pick, ant-drill, anti-plug extract, anti-snap and anti-bump. Of all the 3 stars, these are considered to be one of the most difficult to pick; but we have given ourselves enough bench time to ensure we have the technique to a tee!

Door Realignment

Door alignment is integral to a doors performance and in actually fact is one of our most provovided services. Whilst the temptation is to adjust from the hinges, this is just a temporary fix and can do more damage than good. This needs to be done professionally and often involves glass removal.

Window Mech & Hinges

This window was jammed shut due the mechanism being completely seized. Once opened, we realsied thie hinges were bent. We changed the hinges, mechanism and handle – and it was as good as new!

Key Impressioning

Key impressioning is a dying art, with very few locksmiths left practising this skill in the field. When our client misplaced their keys, we did not want to disturb the paint work if we were to replace the full unit, so instead we impressioned the lock and provided new keys.

YALE Platinum 3 Star Picked

3 Star locks are insurance approved and built to withstand the 5 main principles of attack. Our locksmiths are able to flag pick these open and get you back into your property with no damage to your locks or doors.

High Security KS Decoded

Our client gave bought a propery which had a police approved, Supra key safe. The client wasnt able to get to the bolts as they were located inside and they did not know the code. The first locksmith quoted to grid off the safe. We decoded the lock, changed the pin, and charged them less than the destructive locksmith.

Lock Curtain Picked Open

This customer misplaced the key to their UNION strongbolt lock. This lock can be a little tricky to curtain pick however we only ever drill as a last resort. Fortunately, this one picked open and we replaced the lock for them.

Garage Gain Entry

This garage had an internal mechanism which had worked lose and despite having the correct key, the handle did not withtract the latches. We were able to succesfully open this garage, fix the lock and have it all back up and running.

Chubb Lock Gain Entry

When the roller bolt failed on the chubb lock, this business was unable to open their door and fulfill urgent orders. We attended on a call out, gained entry and fitted a temporary lock. The following day, we returned, fitted a new lock and handles and cut 10 additional keys.

Transom Closer Change

A regular client called with an emergency when their transom closer had slipped and the door fell into their shop. We secured it for the day, then when their customers had left, we replaced the unit and all of the accessories.

BS 1 Star Lock, SPP

1 Star locks can be even harder to pick than 3 star locks. To make matters harder, we only had a limited amount of picks and no bump keys. With patience, our locksmith was able to tease the core out of anti-pick and get the open we required – non destructively.

Trailer Picked Open

When this client misplaced their keys, they called upon our assistance to pick open their trailer. The lock was wery russty with springs and wafers extermely seized. After plenty of lubrication, the lock picked open and the client was able to offload their equipment.

Roof Box Picked & Changed

This customer lost their keys whilst on holiday camping. Fortunately, they had used our services a number of times, so they entrusted us with openign the box for them. Whilst we was there, we swapped over the cores and issued them 3 new keys.

Post Box Picked & Changed

This job was for a local estate agent, who’s tenant had snapped a key in their post box. We removed the broken key, picked the lock, removed it and replaced it.

Container Locks Picked

When this contractor’s compound got broken into, the thieves stole all of the keys – including the padlocks to the stores and tools, meaning work wasn’t able to commence until opened. We attended within the hour and picked and replaced both locks.

Failed Curtain Gain Entry

This client called on a recommendation from another business we have provided our services for. Their key was spinning in the lock – this is due to curtain failure. Using a special method we were able to manipulate the bolt back and open the door. We then replaced the lock.

Snapped Talon

This lock had a brocked talon which can be very awkard to gain entry. On this ocassion we drilled the lock to gain access and was able to fit a new lock. As there was so many keys issued, we swapped the levers over in the new lock, to ensure the existing keys would work it.

Full Upgrade

This door had a 3 lever sash lock and rim nightlatch. Not only was it not to insurance standard, but it was awkward to press both levers. We upgrade to euro profile, remeoved the latch, and fitted keyed alike, restricted locks which met the british standard.

Combination Decoded

We fitted this key safe for our client at one of their warehouses. As they didn’t use it for nearly 6 months, they forgot the code. We were able to decode the unit, reset the code and provide them their new pin.

Toolbox Picked & Changed

When our customer was looking to buy a toolbox off eBay, they noted it didn’t come with keys. They contacted ourselves to ask if it was worth buying. We provided a quotation to pick it open, raplace the handle and supply to keys. The rest is history!

Picked & Handmade Key

This client lost their keys to their beloved drinks cabinet. The posessions inside were that sentimental to them, they instructed us to “break it open”. We assured we wouldn’t need to and proceeded to pick open the lock. We then made keys to suit and re-fitted it.

Knobset Picked

After being recomended via social media, we were approached to pick open a knobset for a landlady in the heart of the city. We attended in the hour and non destructively, single pin picked it open, allowing the tenant to move in.

ULTION 3 Star Picked

We see ULTION 3 star locks fitted more and more in the city on composite doors. Whilst the doors with long handles look really pretty, they are problematic in a sense they lock behind you. When this happens, your keys are normally on the inside of the house – so do not drill… we can pick them with ease.

YALE Safe Picked

Our client purchased a house and discovered a YALE safe which they did not have keys or a code for. We picked it open, fitted new batteries and set them a new code.

ASEC Locks Decoded

When our commecerical customer misplaced the keys to their container, we attended site to decode the locks and open non-destructively. Once opened, we changed the locks so they had new keys and piece of mind.

HMO Knobset Picked

Our callout team was contacted to assist a landlady when her tenant had lost the keys to their bedroom. Within half an hour we were on site and ‘single pin picked’ the knob open in under a minute.

Post Box Gain Entry

At Spec & Fix, we work with a number of estate agents. When tenants leave without returning keys, we are often employed to pick open the post boxes and replace the locks and issue new keys.

Panic Hardware Installed

Compliancy plays a huge part in what we offer to our commercial partners. This particular door needed to comply to BS EN 1125 and allow free exit to the building occupants. We fitted this on a HS2 site in the Midlands.

Master Keysafe Decoded

Many houses have key safes these days. When new homeowners move in, they often do not know the existing code – particularly if the seller has deceased. We are experts in opening all kinds of key safes without causing any damage. We will even change the code for you once in.

Full Door Upgrade

This door had a nightlatch and 3 lever sash lock – none of which complied to their insurers terms and conditions. Also, it was very fiddly to operate 2 handles at once. We fitted a british standard lock which did non require a handle. This made it compliant and much easier to use.

Strongbolt Decoded

One of our loyal cutomers has a shipping container company. When the keys were lost, we were asked to attend and open the container – with no damage. We decoded the british standard UNION stronbolt lock, opened the door and replaced the locks – with minimal fuss.

Handle Replacement

Our residential client had gone through 3 handles in the space of a year. We recomended one of our own branded, heavy duty handle,s which was double sprung. A year on and the handle is still going strong.

Late Night Failure

As part of our 24/7 call out, we attended a property in North Hykeham where the back door was unable to lock. The homeowner was worried about the potential risk during the night, so we replaced the mechanism at 2am to secure the premises.

Handle Upgrade

Our clients handle was loking very worn and the springing had failed. We were employed to fit one of our heavy duty, double sprung, handlesets.

Mechanism Replacement

Mechanisms generally fail due to poor door alignment. This customers door had dropped causing the door to require extra force to open and close… this in turn put too much pressure on the mechanism and eventually jammed the door shut. Once we gained entry we replaced the mech and re-aligned.

Failed Mechanism

We have a number of non-destructive methods of opening failed mechanisms dependent on which brand they are. This particular brand gave us chance to show off our homemade tools!

Bespoke Bifold Solution

Our client purchased some first floor, bi-fold doors off Facbook marketplace. Unfortunately, the locking and the handles didn’t quite suit their needs for a glood floor games room. We purpose made handles to overcome their issue.

Rim Cylinder Replacement

During a warrant call out with a baliff accompaniment, we were asked to pick open a YALE lock and replace with new so the tenants old keys would not work.

Outside Access Device

During a site visit, our GAI expert noticed that the panic hardware fitted on the internal and external of the door were not tested together. We issued a report and was asked to upgrade to make their door compliant.

This particular job was to pick open an Exidor outside access device and then replace the locks once opened.

Lock Upgrade

This client had a standard lock fitted which was not adhering to their underwriters terms. We fitted a Spec & Fix cylinder to TS007, which ticked all of the boxes for their insurers. Our client now has lock that only they can obtain additional cylinders and keys to.
